Database management, database export and database import
SUIM User information system
The database layer is where all of a company's data is stored. In essence, it consists of a database management system (DBMS for short) and the data itself.

Using profile parameters, we can configure everything in the SAP system. Some parameters are dynamically modifiable, which means that they can be changed without restarting the system. However, these changes are not permanent, i.e. after a system restart, the pre-set profile parameters are used again. Other parameters, however, are static, i.e. only with a restart and only permanently modifiable. Most profile parameters for memory allocation are actually static. However, there is the possibility to adapt it dynamically with the report RSMEMORY. Read how to find out if a parameter is static or dynamic and how to use the RSMEMORY report to dynamically adjust the memory allocation parameters. RZ11 - Maintenance of profile parameters The transaction RZ10 gives us information about profiles, which in turn contain different profile parameters. In the transaction RZ11, however, it is possible to view information about individual parameters, provided that you know their name. As you can read in our Memory Parameter Post, the following 5 parameters are particularly important for memory management: abap/heap_area_total abap/heap_area_dia abap/heap_area_nondia ztta/roll_extension_dia ztta/roll_extension_nondia If you don't know exactly what a parameter might be called, it's worth using the F4 help here. For example, for the parameter abab/heap_area_dia, the RZ11 outputs: Description of the parameter abap/heap_area_dia in the RZ11 As you can see here, it is not a dynamic parameter. Now it is rather sorry if you want to test whether there is enough memory available to restart the system again and again. For this purpose, there is the RSMEMORY report. RSMEMORY - Test your memory allocation strategy Report RSMEMORY Report View No documentation or value help available here, but SAP documentation tells you how to use the report. This first distinguishes between dialogue and non-dialogue work processes. That is, in the first area you can set Extended Memory (Storage Class 1) and Heap Memory (Storage Class 2) for Dialogue Workprocesses, and in the second area you can set it for non-dialogue workprocesses.

Constant further development and growing complexity are placing ever-increasing demands on the SAP infrastructure in terms of performance and feasibility. In addition, SAP Basis is the technological driving force for the implementation of new applications and innovations in your business environment.

If you are running a multi-system landscape with a common transport directory, it is convenient to enable this option only in the first system you are inserting support packages into, and to disable it in the following systems. Since the data files no longer need to be regenerated there, this saves time when playing in. Delete data files after inserting You can specify whether the data files should be deleted after inserting the support packages. This saves disk space and is enabled in the default setting. If you are running a multi-system landscape with a common transport directory, it is convenient to disable this option, since then the data files in the other systems no longer need to be re-created (see above Regenerate data files). Execute ABAP/Dynpro generation This option determines whether the programmes and screens shipped with the support packages should be generated during the commit. Note that generation can take a long time. Without automatic generation, the programmes and dynpros are not generated until the first call. Note that this parameter can only be affected by you if the generation is allowed by SAP during the insertion of this support package. The SPAM update does not affect the generation. SPAM Settings Option SAPM Basic Setting Transmission Monitor From Scenario Standard Rebuild Data File A data file after the example. Delete Do a Generation From Use the transaction SPAM to insert Support Packages [page 8] into your system, regardless of whether the support packages come from the SAPNet - R/3 Frontend, the SAPNet - Web Frontend, or Collection CDs. Select Tools ABAP Workbench Tool Maintenance Patches or enter the transaction code SPAM.

With "Shortcut for SAP Systems" a tool is available that greatly facilitates some tasks in the SAP basis.

Moreover, the evil in all three stories could have been prevented by pro-activity.

Likewise, the SAP basis should serve as a sparring partner for individuals and boards (such as enterprise architects) that significantly influence the strategy.
