SAP BASIS AS A SERVICE
The SAP Basis is responsible for the smooth operation of the programmes in the SAP system. It acts as an operating system for R/3 and subsequent releases including S/4HANA. Each operating system provides an environment in which programmes can run, such as MS Office on Microsoft Windows. Likewise, the SAP base system with the NetWeaver and HANA platform offers an environment in which the SAP programmes can run. In this context, the NetWeaver platform itself relies on server operating systems such as Windows and Linux.
With simple job programming, you can start in clear environments with few dependencies. If the number of jobs and the complexity increases, an automatic job control is a good choice. Honico Batchman is such a solution, a 100% SAP integrated AddOn, which is quickly and easily installed via normal transports. The advantage here is that no additional infrastructure is required; instead, the existing SAP system landscape is used for the entire control and execution without incurring a loss in performance. This also ensures full audit and operational security (compliance). Since pure SAP systems are rather the exception, non-SAP systems can also be controlled and monitored. As a third option, high-end solutions are available that additionally monitor the infrastructure and legacy. Widely used products in this segment are UC4 and Arvato Streamworks. These three solution options differ significantly in terms of price and scope of services. IT departments in companies must therefore evaluate which solution is best suited to their own requirements.

The security-related system settings and permissions settings applied to your SAPS systems are poorly documented, which in many cases causes the system settings to allow extensive critical access unchecked. Critical SAP permissions, profiles, and roles identify permissions that allow critical operations to be performed in terms of security or from a legal or business perspective are called "critical permissions" by SAP. The granting of critical allowances must therefore generally be carried out with particular care and should therefore be planned in advance. Technical and organisational measures and processes must then ensure that the desired level of safety is implemented.
Site Reliability Engineering(SRE) is the equivalent of SAP Basis in the Google world. Ben Treynor, who has been with Google since 2003 and is considered the godfather of SRE, describes SRE as "what happens when you give operations tasks to a software engineer".
