SAP Basis is simpler
What is SAP Basis?
SAP Basis Operation manages the IT underlying the SAP system. In addition, the operation ensures the maintenance and availability of business processes. Various tools can be used for this purpose, which take over the maintenance, care, configuration and monitoring of the SAP system. Basic operation is the prerequisite for ensuring that the SAP system is fully operational and covers the business processes well.
There are the following reasons that may lead to the termination of this step: CANNOT_GET_OBJECT_LIST: The Object List of a Support Package could not be found because the Support Package does not exist. CANNOT_GET_LAST_UPGRADE_INFO: Unable to locate information about the latest Repository Switch upgrade. UNRESOLVED_ADDON_CONFLICTS: Conflicts with add-ons could not be resolved because the corresponding CRTs from the queue are missing. SPDD_SPAU_CHECK This step will check if a modification match (transactions SPDD/SPAU) is necessary. DDIC_IMPORT This step imports the ABAP Dictionary.
Control users and access rights
To configure the SAL, please use transaction RSAU_CONFIG (formerly SM19) as of SAP Release 7.50. It is recommended to activate the cross-user logging with minimum settings and to record all audit classes for users with extensive authorizations, such as SAP standard and emergency users. These settings should always be configured on a cross-client basis.
In these cases, you will quickly get the problem under control with a manual user synchronization. This is because the user synchronization checks which roles are assigned to a user and then assigns the current, matching profile. You can run this user synchronization either manually or (my recommendation!) automatically as a background job:
"Shortcut for SAP Systems" is a PC application that simplifies or even facilitates many activities in the SAP base.
Since jobs and backups should run at set times for organizational or technical reasons, automating them is a good idea.
Since pure SAP systems are rather the exception, non-SAP systems can also be controlled and monitored.
