Bypass Excel-based Permissions Traps
If the FIORI interface is then used under SAP S/4HANA, the additional components must also be taken into account here. Authorizations are no longer made available to the user via "transaction entries" in the menu of a role. Instead, catalogs and groups are now used here. These are stored similar to the "transaction entries" in the menu of a role and assigned to the user. However, these catalogs must first be filled with corresponding tiles in the so-called "Launchpad Designer". It is important to ensure that all relevant components (tile component and target assignment component(s)) are always stored in the catalog. The FIORI catalog is used to provide a user with technical access to a tile. A corresponding FIORI group is used to make these tiles visually available to the user for access in the Launchpad.
Employees should only be able to access data relevant to their work, country or accounting area in tables? Set up organisational criteria to ensure this. Do you want users to be able to read or maintain specific tables, but only have access to the table contents that are relevant to them? The S_TABU_DIS and S_TABU_NAM permissions objects allow you to access the tables, but if you want a user to see or maintain only parts of the table, these authorization objects will reach their limits.
Security Automation for SAP Security Checks
Your SAP system landscape keeps you safe and up-to-date by inserting different types of SAP hints and patches. For a first overview of the security information for SAP systems, see the SAP Service Marketplace at https://service.sap.com/securitynotes. For a complete list of all security advisories for all SAP solutions (SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP and Java, TREX, SAP HANA, Sybase, SAP GUI, etc.), see Security Notes Search on this page. The My Security Notes page allows you to find the SAP notes that are relevant for systems registered in SAP Service Marketplace. This does not take into account information already recorded.
To calculate the recommendations, you can filter the SAP notes by their productive system, by the SAP solution, and by the applications and components, by the technical system name, and by the time of publication. The recommendation is issued in the following categories: Security-relevant SAP information, information on performance optimisation, HotNews, information on changes in legal regulations, and notes on corrections in the ABAP system.
During go-live, the assignment of necessary authorizations is particularly time-critical. The "Shortcut for SAP systems" application provides functions for this purpose, so that the go-live does not get bogged down because of missing authorizations.
Access to the application server's files is protected by kernel-built permission checks, similar to how transactions and RFC function blocks are started.
The most important security services regarding permissions are the EarlyWatch Alert (EWA) and the SAP Security Optimisation Service (SOS).
